The most common question I get when someone orders their first LipSense® color is “do I need the gloss?”. I get it- usually lipsticks you just swipe on in the car and go. But with LipSense®, the color is applied with those 3 layers of little color pigments. There isn’t any hydration in the color. Plus, it will be a little tacky if you tried to talk without sealing it. (You can go watch any of my live videos applying it, and you’ll see how ridiculous I look while trying to talk to you guys and let the color dry!) So, the short answer is yes, you need the gloss. But let’s chat about why you’ll WANT to use the gloss.
Adds All Day Staying Power
Synthetic Beeswax in our glosses provide a coating over your LipSense® color to seal and protect it from outside elements. Things like eating oily foods (like salad dressing) can break down your color. By applying a quick layer of gloss before eating foods like that, it helps keep your color intact after your meal is done. Besides actual armor for your color, our gloss contains Vitamin E as a major ingredient in the gloss. Vitamin E is an antioxidant which helps fight premature aging- giving your lips some extra oomph throughout the day. As you go about your day- talking, drinking and eating- your lips are almost always in motion. That will wear down your gloss (just like you’d expect) and expose your LipSense® to the elements easier. So, reapply whenever your lips are feeling dry to keep that extra layer of protection and add back some…
Hydration
Since there is the denatured alcohol in LipSense®, it doesn’t add any moisture during application. To bring that moisture back, slap on some gloss after your color dries. Our glosses contain Shea Butter, which will help add instant moisture to your lips after application. Plus there is that Synthetic Beeswax and Vitamin E that also help out your lips hydration by keeping more moisture in. I wear gloss on days I don’t wear any LipSense®, and it’s seriously helped my lips stay in better shape. We even recommend wearing it at night if you don’t have our lip balm yet. It helps your lips be prepped even better for your LipSense® the next morning!
Change Up Your Colors!

This is my favorite part of our glosses! Our glossy is a shiny, clear gloss and is what you should apply after your color. BUT- there are over 10 other types of glosses to choose from to top your favorite LipSense® shade. Opal can add a reflective purple sheen to your color, bougainvillea will add a hint of red (I love wearing it over a light brown color). We have glitter glosses that add some shimmer to your matte LipSense® color. Bonus is that on days you aren’t wearing LipSense®, but you are going to be out and about, you can wear one of the tinted glosses. It makes your makeup free look just a bit more polished. My customers that only wear the gloss love bougainvillea, pink sand, orchid and sand glosses.

You’ll receive one glossy gloss in your LipSense® starter kit, but I recommend you grab at least another one. Keep one on your bathroom counter and one in your purse. Because there has been too many times that I apply my LipSense®, then can’t find my gloss because I moved it to this purse or my backpack. Learn from my mistakes. Start out with 2 (a glossy one and another fun one!). Apply any gloss throughout the day (and especially before eating) and after a few days you should start to notice your LipSense® staying on your lips longer and better.
