Beginner LipSense® Colors

You’ve asked around about LipSense®, read from me how to order it, and now you are ready to take the plunge and order! Yay! But, with over 50 shades, you can’t decide which to choose first. Can someone just tell you what most people order as their beginner LipSense® colors? Hi friend, I’m here to help you. First off, it’s good that we have such a range of shades (even though it might feel overwhelming right now). That large collection allows us to have shades for everyone out there. So, maybe not all shades will work for you and your skin tone. But there are some tried and true colors that I recommend for those just starting out. Here is my recommendations for beginner colors that can help you narrow down what to order first.

Grab a Neutral Shade

Many shades are either more cool (blue based) or warm (yellow based). So you can find your undertone and use that to guide you. But if you want something easier, grab a neutral shade.  They are more in the brown color family, but are neutral based (so not cool or warm based colors). Bella is one of the top shades that I sell, and its because it is a neutral and looks so good on such a range of skin tones. If you are someone who doesn’t think they can pull off a brown lippie, try Bella first before you toss the idea away!

Order a Frost Finish LipSense®

Applying LipSense® can be tricky for newbies. You gotta make 3 even layers, and even as a pro, some days I mess it up when I am in a big hurry. Matte shades can be the trickiest to apply, so I recommend going with a frost finish shade. This finish is more forgiving if one part of your layer comes out a bit thicker (and thus darker) than the other part. Part of what makes them great beginner colors.Plus I find they wear pretty well and hold up up throughout my day a bit better. When you are first starting out, your lips might be more chapped or dehydrated. This can cause your color to flake off before the day is done. No worries- this should slow down after a couple days. Some favorites I love to recommend are Honey Rose, Violette, Pink Champagne and Beige Champagne.

Order a Light Pink/Light Tan Shade

This final recommendation is because lighter shades don’t show off if you messed up as much! I love having that room for error when you are on a learning curve. Since LipSense® sets so quickly, sometimes I accidentally go outside my lip line (you can fix that with our Ooops! remover) but I’m running late, so I don’t worry about it as much because it’s not as noticeable. Another bonus is that when you are first wearing LipSense®, your color might flake off faster the first couple days. This is normal, and won’t be as noticeable with a lighter color. Some popular lighter colors are Bombshell, Dawn Rising, Caramel Apple and Aussie Rose.

That should get you started on finding some beginner LipSense® colors. Now that you have your colors narrowed down, go ahead and talk to your LipSense® distributor (or me if you are looking for someone) to get that order placed. You’ll also need to grab a glossy gloss (click here to read my reason why) and an Ooops! Remover to get that starter kit going. Be sure to ask any additional questions to your distributor so they can help you out. Our products have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if the color isn’t your shade, talk to your distributor to switch it for one better suited for you.
