Summer time, spring break, winter break- there are several chunks of time that we teachers have more than a 3 day weekend opportunity to travel. It’s one of the perks of the long hours we put in during the school year. I know when I travel, I don’t my husband doesn’t like to pack a lot of things- we are usually only each bringing a carry on suitcase. Considering your travel could be just for a Vegas getaway weekend, or a summer abroad, you gotta be able to have beauty essentials that can go with you no matter where you go. Here are my go-to beauty items when I am travelling.
For your skin
I don’t change up the beauty products I use just because I travel That’s too much confusion for your skin. Instead, I use contact cases to bring along some of my liquids. You can also use those travel containers in the sample size aisle at your local store. You do you, boo. The usual skincare routine is not gonna happen when I’m on the road- pair it down to essentials. I pack our body wash (hotel soaps dry out my body), facewash, climate control, day (with SPF protection) & night moisturizers, and a bit of our scrub. Don’t forget a good lip balm! If you are prone to breaking out when travelling or stressed, also throw this into your makeup bag. That’s it- keep it simple so you have time to catch up on your Zzzz’s or some ray’s.

For your face
Even if you are a full glam kinda person, you might have to scale that beauty back a bit if you will travel light. My essentials would always include some tinted moisturizer & eye illuminator (to brighten your eyes- bonus is it’s a solid!) Both of these will help even out your skin and keep you looking fresh! Next, either a mascara (that’s how I roll) or an eyeliner pencil (how my friends roll). Whichever one is your go to for opening up your eyes, grab it. Next, I pack a moca java ShadowSense®, because I can use this in my brows, on my eyes, and as a contour. We have lots of ShadowSense® shades, so let me help you find one that can be your go to! Last, grab 2 of your favorite LipSense® shades (I recommend a bold and a neutral). Since you can layer them differently and wear alone, you have more options than just 2 shades! Then grab a glossy gloss and you are done!
For your hair
Travelling takes it toll on my hair- but I bring it back to life with some deep conditioner Ill pack in my bag. Usually I use hotel shampoos to save on space. What I do pack is travel size of this dry shampoo, and some travel size sea salt spray. I use a small wet/dry brush, and some elastics (I use these ones and these clear ones) to tame my hair during the day, and these bobby pins (because they come in a travel container!). I’m not a hat person, but if you are, this is where I also recommend packing a hat. Some days you just don’t want to deal with it, and you need to get going. Your favorite hat will have your back.
That’s it! Of course, you still need outfits to pack, check out this blog for recommendations. For beauty though, these products work well for my skin type (normal to dry) and hair type (super straight and fine). Let me know in the comments what are your must-haves for beauty essentials when you travel so that we help out everyone in our community when travelling!
