Your friend talks about it or you are seeing it pop up online. People are raving about LipSense® and you are curious about it. But…to get that all day staying power, it must be complicated to apply or maintain. With a busy day (and busy mornings) is it worth it to learn something new that adds to your routine? People always say they will “show you” how to apply LipSense – is it that complicated? The answer- no. But it does take a few specific steps to get that all day color though! I am breaking it down for you in 3 easy to follow steps. (plus a bonus step for maintaining all day).
Step 1: Prep your lips (so they are clean & dry)
LipSense® is usually the last product I apply in the morning. Because of that, there is usually some makeup/skincare that has made its way onto my lips. So just grab a washcloth and get a corner of it damp. Use that damp section to scrub your lips (to take off any makeup and give your lips some extra exfoliation). Then switch to the dry part of your washcloth and pat your lips dry. Pro tip: lips feeling extra dehydrated(ahem-winter)? Anytime your lips need some extra exfoliation, grab our lip scrub to use at night)
Step 2: Apply color (in thin layers)
Okay, so here’s the part that scares people. But not you- you’ll be brave and just try it and see how it goes. The worst that can happen is you have to start over! LipSense® is made of color pigments suspended in SD40 alcohol as the base. For best results, you need to apply in 3 thin layers (to allow the color pigments to bond and the alcohol to quickly dry between each layer). Dehydrated, they will tingle when applying LipSense® but it will go away once it dries and/or you apply your gloss. Make the 3 layers thin by wiping excess color off the wand before applying, and then keep the same direction for application.
Step 3: Apply glossy gloss (to seal & protect your color)
Final step- proceed once your color is dry and not tacky to the touch. Now you will liberally apply our glossy gloss after you apply LipSense. You can apply this in any direction- you’re the boss applesauce. There are different glosses you can top your color with- matte, rose, glitter, etc- but I ALWAYS recommend that you start with glossy. This is our most hydrating gloss, and will help your color last longer.
So that’s it! Don’t let the intimidation factor of LipSense® hold you back from rocking some bold lipstick. You might have an awkward application once (or twice) but everyone learns it quick. Then you’ll be in love with it. Pretty soon, you’ll be looking gorgeous in lipstick while hanging out in sweatpants and a messy bun. Now,hop on over to learn what colors you should choose for your first order!
